The days went by slowly and the anticipation kept me awake most nights. I noticed aches and pains during the easy runs and doubted my readiness leading up to the marathon. I panicked at every sneeze and worried about catching the flu that makes the rounds at this time of year. In short, I was a wreck.

The good news is that it was purely mental and my fitness was sound. The NYC Marathon turned out to be even more amazing than I had imagined. Read my full race report here.

  1. I did the same thing the week of my marathon. Every sniffle, everytime my throat was scratchy, I panicked. I took dayquil, unncessarily, I took emergen-C, I bought Vitamin C drops. All in all, it was a combination of nerves and my husband being away due to a death in the family… too much stress leading up to the event… !
