Week Eight: Sept 1 – Sept 7 Recap
There are only 55 days left until the 2014 TCS New York City Marathon!
Tough Tuesday workout with 4 x 8 minutes at 10K race pace. On the plus side, the miles flew by. It’s amazing how fatigued the brain can become during long slow runs. The short intervals require intensity and focus, but are easier mentally. Sunday called for a 4-mile fast finish, and I felt the same relief again when shifting gears. Don’t get me wrong. It wasn’t a walk in the park, but it was a break from the monotony.
I just received the second half of my Asics NYCM training plan. Things are about to get serious now that we have less than two months until race day. More miles and more sustained speed workouts! Yeah!
If you want to make it to the starting line healthy and full of energy, you need to focus on sleeping and eating. Your body requires extra rest during this phase of training. If you can manage it, you’ll want to get at least 8 hours each night of the week. And, good news, you’re burning fuel like crazy. So, eat up! Eat healthy foods, but eat plenty of them.
