Skechers is for real. I know, I was skeptical at first. But, after Meb Keflezighi and Kara Goucher signed on I felt compelled to give these shoes a try. I was pleasantly surprised, and I have a whole new level of respect for the brand. The one-time shoe for tweens has grown up and transformed itself into a high-performance running shoe.
The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was Skechers commitment to quality and comfort. An extra pair of shoelaces and some optional insoles were included with my new pair of Skechers Go Run 4 running shoes. The extra insoles make a world of difference in terms of comfort and support, and runners can easily adapt the shoe to their liking.
The Skechers Go Run 4 weighs in at a breezy 6.5 oz and sports a minimal 4mm drop from heel to toe. The shoe is extremely flexible and twists and moves with your foot naturally. This is a shoe for runners that want speed and freedom.
The roomy toe box allows for the toes to spread out and I felt zero friction on my usual hot spots. In fact, when I put the shoe on and laced up for the first time, I noticed that the forefoot material actually tented a bit.
The M-Strike™ technology in the Skechers Go Run 4 adds a slight curve to the bottom of the shoe giving it a very slight rocker shape. I noticed that within the first fifty meters of my run I had shortened my stride and started landing mid-foot. I also adopted a much quicker turnover rate on the downhill sections to avoid pounding on my heels. The Skechers Go Run 4 will help you run more efficiently.
This Skechers Go Run 4 is definitely made for speed. I have a pair of Asics Gel Kayano‘s for my long slow grinds, and they take good care of me. But, for my tempo runs, fartlek and speed sessions, the Skechers Go Run 4 will help me go like never before.
